Maya lesson 2:Lego bricks
Todays Maya tutorial continued of what we learned last time but more complex. The aim for the Mia tutorials for this projects is to make a 3D car out of lego which will then be animated to move. In the last lesson we made building blocks but in this lesson we turned those building blocks in lego blocks which isn't as easy as it sounds as I had a lot of trouble with this. The process started with creating a 1x1 block by making a square slightly taller and inserting edge loops to create borders around each face. The faces on top where selected, extruded and then circularized to make the cylinder parts that connect the lego bricks together in real life. Finally the 1x1 was mirrored to easily create other pieces such as 2x2 or 1x4 pieces. Some of these pieces where flattened using there vertices.
I understand well enough the process of how these where made now but I made a small mistake where I originally increased the width instead of the hight of the 1x1 block. You would think this would be an easy fix but it required that the blocks where re made from scratch which shows me that even the tiniest mistakes cant be fixed later down the line and to make sure I am typing numbers into the correct boxes.
